In the morning of 25th December, 2019, at Pan Pacific Hotel, No. 1 Thanh Nien Street, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi, Lunet Art Galerie proudly held the Opening Ceremony of “Portrait of Artist – Sculptor Ta Quang Bao” . This is the first solo exhibition of Sculptor Ta Quang Bao in more than half a century of hard work and creativity for Vietnamese Fine Arts in general and Sculpture in particular.
Attending the opening ceremony were numerous representatives of agencies, the Fine Arts Association, great artists and those who love Vietnamese art and fine arts. Lunet Art was honored to welcome The Minister of Agriculture Le Huy Ngo and Chairman of Vietnam Fine Arts Association Luong Xuan Doan. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee of Thanh Hoa also sent flowers to congratulate the exhibition on the success.
The exhibition displays many new works with different materials by Sculptor Ta Quang Thao. Each work is a separate story, a picture inspired by intense emotions in the past, and a picture composed when he observes and ponders the real life around him. Each work has its own personality, but still unified to create creative styles with Ta Quang Thao. It is the image of a Vietnamese woman who is flexible but no less strong and toned. It is the iconic image for the sudden moments in life. Or is it the romantic touch in the statues filled with passionate love? Nearly 90 works on display at this exhibition will give us a clear understanding of the thoughts, ideas and aspirations of sculptor Ta Quang Bao in particular and Vietnamese sculpture in general.
Ta Quang BAO Sculptor was born in Thanh Hoa province, in 1941. Ta Quang BAO graduated from Industrial Fine Arts College and worked at Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, Ta Quang BAO and a group of talented young artists. the late painter Nguyen Do Cung assigned to go on a field trip to record the monuments – landscapes – famous temples, pagodas and tombs with unique beauty throughout the country. In 1966, Ta Quang Bao left the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum to study the sculpture course of the University of Industrial Fine Arts (1967 – 1971). After graduating, with his ideal and ambition of aspiration for a peaceful country, Ta Quang Bao joined forces with the Americans to save the country. In the army, he was not only a soldier holding a gun, but also a soldier on the Cultural – Art front. He fought most of the battles in Quang Nam – Da Nang (Inter-Region V). Growing up in the military, the revolutionary hero nature was imbued with him. It was from the fierce battlefield, the belief in love, the desire for peace and unification, that national unity became the artistic work of sculptor Ta Quang Bao. Works: Mother Truong Son; Nui Thanh Dung; Peace; Vong phuong … are typical examples of his artistic style.
Sculptor Ta Quang Bao has made a great contribution to the development of Vietnamese Fine Arts in the second half of the twentieth century, especially in the field of sculpture. His works have a unique style – language, vitality, creativity.
