LIGHT SPACE IN WORKS OF PAINTER NGUYEN VAN CHUYEN

Art is a way to find the truth of an artist. What an artist is like, which appears in his own works, cannot be hidden. Art is also a continuous creative process.

“How can one draw the best, the finest works? For me, happiness is when I can draw, it’s when I seem to fall into the unconscious state. Drawing in the studio makes artists simply feel free, to be in their own world, and then the only one thing left is passionate about creativity.” – Artist Nguyen Van Chuyen shared.

Lacquer painting requires the painter to have nerves of steel, perseverance and endurance. Because in order to create a large lacquer painting, it is necessary for painters to be physically and mentally patient. A large lacquer painting will take a lot of time to complete, if you just wait for emotions and are not persistent in training, you will never get good and excellent works.

With the challenging material – Lacquer, painter Nguyen Van Chuyen still finds out his own way with an open mind. He broke through ideas and figurative language, creating a unique style of painting.

If you find light harmonious and elusive, then in “Tunnel” artwork by Painter Chuyen, he made it existing, bright, warm yet sharp and sparkling. That’s the color of a metal – GOLD. With straight cut lines and sharp lights, he shows a perspective full of identity: sharp and cold but still warm, because it gives people a layer of space behind the surface of the painting. A light space by painter Nguyen Van Chuyen.

Painter Nguyen Van Chuyen’s artworks are rich in painting nature. The black, dark colors of “Then” and Puce are used strongly, in contrast to the fresh, brilliant of Gold, Vermilion and Eggshell. Using the basic color palette of Lacquer is clever, in addition to “tying” the bold lines into a tight composition by balance and symmetry. He creates a space with many layers of images. The outer layer – clearly identified as the layer with deep, cold colors and the micro-lines as a veil, creating a “coat” for the work – is a foreground. In other words, he uses the tactics of creating an opposing light effect. Large areas of deep complex colors intertwine with small patches of light, evoking a bright space behind.

Being thought in an expressive yet coherent way, with shapes placed in logical layouts, Painter Nguyen Van Chuyen’s painting has a fascinating appeal to a space of light created by opposition.
