“My art perspective is that everything must come from love and passion; when we have passion, we can overcome hardship. When doing art, there must be a journey, there must be a destination. Most likely, during the journey, we have no luck in grasping that destination and that dream, but we have searching purpose.

I love lacquer with all my heart, I am an artist who aspires to search with traditional Vietnamese lacquer in my own journey. It is very arduous to complete a lacquer work, and in that harsh journey, the artist must have faith. It is faith that helps us to follow the journey, the path we have traced. And when we have passion, dream, desire, we can overcome all difficulties.”

Painter Tran Ngoc Hung with a passionate heart shared his passion for painting with lacquer material.

In real life, he deeply researches and learns about lacquer material processing techniques when he works as a restoration expert at Vietnam Fine Arts Museum.

He carries with him a motivation, a burning desire of youth. He creates art with enthusiasm, hard work, and diligence. And actually, in his works, we feel abundant energy and strength of many levels.

His works contain strong lines, seemingly unconscious and free. However, the freedom to adapt with those unconscious zigzag lines still lies in a holistic composition. Each work exudes an explosive and youthful energy source which we will feel when watching it.
