“Returning each good news to the world waiting…”

2019 is considered to be a successful and developed year of Lunet Art – the establishment of a private Fine Arts organization with the development orientation as a non-profit art organization of a young owner – Luneta Phan. With the passion and desire to make a huge contribution to the development of Vietnamese Fine Arts, Lunet Art has made a distinct impression on the art critics and artists. Especially, it got an enthusiastic reception from the art-lover thanks to the launch of Lunet Art Galerie – an exhibition space for luxurious artwork.

After the opening ceremony of lacquer paintings exhibition “Son ta Voc Viet”, these Vietnamese lacquer works are impressively displayed and well-aranged which made many critics admiring about their ability to collect works.

Subsequently, the sculpture exhibition “Portrait of artist – sculptor Ta Quang Bao” was highly appreciated by the art- loving community as well as the important national and foreign politicians.

We spent a few minutes on interviewing Luneta Phan – the Art Director of Lunet Art Galerie. The interview was about her incisive thoughts on collecting work as well as the enthusiasm of an art curator organization.

  • Have you built Lunet Art and chosen its path for a long time?

Lunet Art was newborn, but probably choosing and building the way for it – I had done long time ago. It started when I was a little girl.

  • You chose for Lunet Art a path as current. The contemporary flow is strong, but the authenticity in the art world is always threatened to slip away, very few people dare to choose. However, that path – so many people yearn? Do you see that as a challenge?

Is that a question or your comment? Some people said that I was very “courageous” while others said I was reckless. I don’t think so because I know that art has eternal values – that no one or nothing can change that is the value of Aesthetics – the value of Beauty and Humanity. Only when people are far away from that value will they be called reckless.

I chose the path for Lunet Art is to choose the path for myself, but not for comparing with others’.

On the way to those noble values, no matter how hard, whether joy or suffering or despair, I am willing to calmly receive them. I believe the fact that, the thousand-year history has proven, any individual loves beauty and towards true art. So why would I fail if my organization’s goals for sustainable values?

  • Do you mean you’ll never regret, even if you unfortunately fail?

There is a saying (probably the lyrics of a foreign song) that I always carry with me:

“Life is the spiral and the turning points. When failure goes around, don’t neglect, success is a reversal. When things go bad, it is the time you don’t give up”.

As soon as I have had these ideas and taken the first step to start a journey. My teacher, once said:

“Happiness is a journey, right from the beginning, not the end to find yourself happy or not.”

Musician Tran Lap also has a song: “The path that we step on the roses/ The foot is always painful because of thorns “, right ?

  • Artist Nguyen Huy Hoang shared: There was a time, about 20 years ago, many galleries mostly run for commercial purposes. Those excessive commercial activities for the sake of profit have been accidentally or intentionally enticed many artists to compose according to the “market” trend. And of course, the consequences of it, we all know. After a while, the true art had turned its back and sought for its own value. Genuine artists, who work for the creative purpose and retain the artists’ personalities, turn their backs on those “temporary” galeries. But this time, the artist was very touched for commenting on Lunet Art to: “Lunet Art is very professional and directed to a luxurious art field” – Is it one of the good marks from the art world for you?

Thank you for sharing the artist’s comments that touched me.

Right on the first steps on the road of happiness, spreading roses, and many thorns (smiling), I felt their aroma.

Each work of art – in itself, captures the beauty of life and brings great value to this life. They make this life more beautiful but not their mission of being … to the order – of anyone.

Trade – is inevitable in all galleries’ activities. In other words, somehow society has to recognize and pay for the artworks, right?! And the commercial galleries will have to do that.

However, the Lunet Art Galerie is not a commercial operation that maximizes profits but aims to act as an art sponsor. Come to Lunet Art Galerie – a best place to honor the artworks, to cherish the authors. Lunet Art aims to and demonstrates that the main activity is to professional art curate. (Smiling, she turned her eyes away …)

Life is a treat, the works return life joys and feelings.

Artists and painters pay for life the lofty values of the soul and the intense vibe of emotions.

I have to return something, too, right?! Huh?! Lunet Art gives life, art and the public the most solemn space – a space to honor art and share it with the public who love it.

  • You have put a lot of enthusiasm into Lunet Art and and there is an undeniable truth – that when we devote all our energy to something, we will always be welcome and succeed. Do you think so?

(She laughed out loud)

Do not be too optimistic to become a daydreaming (She smiled).

I think that statement is not entirely accurate. To be well received, to succeed, only enthusiasm – is not enough, just a warm heart – is also not enough! Besides a passionate love, we must love with our intellect.

At the cost of myself, not small, I understand that success should begin with the heart, but how to go to the destination and to keep the path of happiness which we are going must be also intellectual. Must be intellectual to conquer the public who love art. That is the truly success of Lunet Art.

  • I understand your message. Has there ever been a time in Lunet Art’s operation path you felt lonely?

Loneliness is inevitable. Even alone. But for me, loneliness in art – is a privilege that God bestows.

Generally, loneliness is when there are no people to sympathize and share. Right? And people are afraid of being alone, but don’t worry, I’m not.

I know that every artworks – are “talkative” and “emotional”! (smile). They give me not only intellect and emotions but also energy and belief.

Sometimes I felt lonely – in the human world, but I never felt alone in the world of artworks. I want to share that sweet happiness with the public, and hope that many people will dare to “confess” that love to art.  Lunet Art will be a place to share and express the feelings of your love…. with art.

  • The in-depth art critics stated that the exhibitions of Lunet Art were distinctive, aim to a professional, class and exquisite playground. Artist Mai Long was surprised at the grandeur and elegance of the exhibitions at Lunet Art Galerie. Artist Nguyen Huy Hoang also asserted the hard work of preparing the work, the elaboration in the exhibition, placing the work in the most luxurious space – only a intense love and a noble wisdom would dare to do like that. In the eyes of art criticism history, Lunet Art is pioneering, paving the way for a trend of art appreciation that true artists have always expected in the audience?

It is really thankful and treasure the appreciation of the artists.

The recognition of the artists, as those of fathers – when their daughters are given to the decent men who cherish their daughters the most.

So touching! From the man’s side (she laughs gracefully).

With that belief, Lunet Art chose a very harsh and difficult path, but with the desire to contribute to revive an art appreciation culture, the goal is to awaken a behavioral culture towards works:

“Instead of treating them as expensive goods, treat them as beautiful values and precious personalities. They are worthy of our respect and admiration, not to possess”.

Lunet Art wants to create a trend of civilized and luxurious art appreciation, artworks can be composed in shabby workshops, but they deserve to be placed in the most luxurious part of the castle.

They will reach out to those who cherish them, “Treasures for precious people”.

  • In the exhibition of sculptor Ta Quang Bao, people felt that you appreciated and had great pride for the works and artist?

Perhaps, life is a treat, I shares with the community what I loves and cherishes. And by all intellect of Lunet Art’s staff and collaborators – the exhibition is a tribute to the artist who was so devoted. An exhibition – what it means to compare to the dedication of the great artist’s life? As a song of Trinh Cong Son: “Return each good news to the world waiting”.
