Dao Hai Phong in the exchange exhibition between Vietnam and Korea

To welcome the 2019 Korean – Asean special summit, the Korean culture centre will hold the exhibition “Loi phong” within the framework of the Vietnam exchange art program from 19th to 30th November, 2019 at 49 Nguyen Du str, Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi. The open ceremony takes place at 16:30 pm on 19th November 2019.

The exhibtion displays 25 works which are created in the last 10 years by artist Dao Hai Phong. Each work is a unique way to express specific and bold feelings of painter Dao Hai Phong, mixed happiness, sadness, loneliness or happy only with the country painting, lotus, city,… It can be said that the paintings display clearly the “ripeness” in the brush-holding career for nearly 30 years, unique and varied in color palettes, objects, strokes and status.

Painter Dao Hai Phong shared: “I believe it is both an honor and a challenge for an individual to be chosen by art. I myself always consider art has no finish. After years of working, I always have a feeling that maybe my unpainted painting could possibly touch my goal? Then abruptly don’t see the starting point when looking back. Life goes by indeed fast when we pursue something.”

Especially, for more interesting for the guests, a unique performance by Korean gayageum zither artist Jang Yoo Na and Korean zither artist Lee Yoo Bin is also held in the open ceremony at 16:30 on 19st November, 2019.

On this occasion, artist Dao Hai Phong will also publish the book “Loi phong” at 15:00 on 19st November, 2019. This is the combination of two generations – an artist from the New age and young individuals born in 90s. From the perspective of the young generation, stories, pictures and life of Dao Hai Phong still retain its nature but put on it a youthful look and the breath of the times. Beside the pictures in the book, viewers also have a chance to learn about the composing aspiration, the story behind the regular expression in Dao Hai Phong’s paintings, about his childhood, career, lifestyle, obstacles, reflection and many “hobbies” with heavy sipritual value.

“Loi phong” (The wind’s way) was born when my children came home from abroad studies. I saw them had grown up, became mature. Teu – my son – invited his friends to come over. Each had his/her own appearance, own ambition, carried within him/her hope and expectation of his/her parents. In them, I saw the burining desire for the future so I invited them to join meto work on this book. To me, “Loi phong” is only a play, a memory, a means – through it we understand each other.”

“This book has pictures.

But it is also life.

This book has you.

And after all, this book is me.”

-Dao Hai Phong-

Mrs Park Hyejin, the Korean culture centre director says “This is the first time The Korean culture centre undergoes a new form of Korean – Vietnam art exchange. In which Vietnamese artists and Korean artists will lead the clear art excursion but is filled with emotions to pictures and musics. I hope that in the coming time, The Korean culture centre will have more oppotunities to organize art exchanges even more interesting.”
